I hope this helps, maybe someone can even simplify or reduce the steps, but i have only tried this solution and since it works I'm fine with it. I have good sound now and can fully engage in playing :) Seems to be a real nasty bug, which hasn't been fixed in months. Trying to change it to my sound card doesn't work, at least for me, it always changes back to OS device. Here how you can update your drivers, and based on your device brand download. The sound should now work fine, despite the "OS device" being selected in the audio settings. At times, outdated drivers can cause issues with recording and sound playback. Also make sure that the configuration is correct, meaning that it is set to "headphones" if you use those, or to "5.1 speakers", depending on what you are using (This may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer).ĩ. Open the control panel for your card and disable any "enhancing 3D effects etc.". Check if the sound works now, with the same way as described above.ġ0. It should say something like "Windows drivers need to be updated etc" in the setup.Ĩ. If you hear sound that means your card has been detected and is using the default win driver successfully.Ħ. What is the device you are tying to connect Have you installed any required drivers for the device If its not plug & play then it needs drivers. Then select the correct device again, right-click, go to "advanced" and test the device. Make the correct device the "standard" (right-click, choose "as standard"). Make sure that you disable any other stuff that might interfere with your sound card in the section "playback". Try it out by clicking the speaker symbol on the right of the task bar, selecting "playback device" or something like that (depending on your language, mine's not English). If the M next to any of the tracks is highlighted, the audio is muted. In the Timeline panel, look at the box at the left. By default Windows will use it's own drivers for your card, so that you hear at least something. Premiere Pro: Do one of the following: Open the Audio Mixer, choose Window > Audio Clip Mixer > Sequence Name or Window > Audio Track Mixer > Sequence Name. Reboot again and then check if you have sound. Go to the Activities overview and open a Terminal. I had 3(!) other entries there (all from Soundblaster X-Fi) which had to be disabled, leaving only "speakers" (with the corresponding symbol) on.ĥ. Under "Audio Input- Output" disable everything that doesn't correspond directly with your card. In the device manager, make sure that only the sound card is activated under "Audio, Video Game pad". It doesn't matter if the card is no longer supported (as mine), just get the latest drivers that are available for your OS.Ĥ. Here are the steps i followed to get it working:ġ. (I'm on Win 10 and using an Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Sound card) I saw that many others have this issue as well, so i tried some stuff and i figured it out (at least for me). I was having trouble with CS GO that i couldn't change the audio device to my sound card and the sound was really strange, resulting in me unable to trust my ears for enemy placement.
